Presentation for Ray Dolan
The Staffordshire Chess Association Personality of the Year award has been
awarded to retiring General Secretary, Ray Dolan, by his successor Peter Evans.
The presentation took place at Bloxwich Junior Chess Club. A fitting place as
the club was formed by Ray and his wife Eunice to introduce our game to local
youngsters. It was quite an event to celebrate Ray’s career in the presence of
the local Member of Parliament Eddie Hughes MP and two former Mayors of Walsall,
Kath Phillips and Paul Bott. We must not forget the presence of the young people
with their coaches and parents. The award was not for the year of 2020, but as a
recognition of all Ray's achievements over a long period which includes two stints
as General Secretary of the Association.

Congratulations to Ray, and best wishes to him and Eunice in all their
endeavours.
