The deaths of John Day of Newcastle Chess club and John Smith of Alsager have been announced. John Smith represented the county at Under 120 and Under 140 Level. John Day was a great supporter of county chess, he would play for any available County Team his grade would permit and he last represented the Staffordshire Under 140 in 2020. John and his wife Frances hosted county games at Newcastle Bridge Club and many previous captains are grateful for their help and organisation.
