The Staffordshire Chess Association is the governing body for chess within the Staffordshire County Boundaries, as defined in Article 2 of the County Constitution.

The Staffordshire Chess Association is affiliated to the Midland Counties Chess Union and the English Chess Federation.
The aim of the Association is to promote the playing, teaching and development of chess at all levels in the County.

Whilst league chess within the County is organised by the above leagues, the County run their own County Cup competitions and the various County teams in the Midland Counties Championship. Details about these can be found from the tabs at the top of the page. The County also organise and run the annual Staffordshire Congress, which is normally held in April. Cheddleton Chess Club organise the Leek Congress in September and the Leek Rapidplay Congress in June.

Young or old, if you are interested in playing chess, either competitively or just socially, you will find all the information that you need on this site to enable you to find a club that is local to you. All of the Officers of the Association will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have so please do not hesitate to ask.
